4 dead including AAPSU women wing president in road accident

ITANAGAR, July 10: All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union, Women Wing President Yagum Nguri (25), Dera Natung Government College Students’ Union Spokesperson, All Nyishi Students’ Union Art & Culture Assistant Secretary cum All Papum Pare District Students’ Union Women wing President Taba Mala (24) along with Doni Dodum (30) and Tai Tagi (30) died when the Scorpio (registration Number AR-01C-8047) they were traveling fell into deep gorge near Middle school, Mithun Gate, P Sector, Itanagar at around 1 pm today.

Their companion Toko Tara (28) and Tai Tadap (25) were severely injured and admitted in RK Mission Hospital and Viki Jully a student of class XII who was also traveling with them received minor injury.

OC Police Station, Itanagar Make Bui on inquiry, informed that the police personnel rushed to the spot immediately and evacuated all the injured persons to RK Mission, Hospital.

However, Nguri and Taba died on the way to hospital, Doni and Tai succumbed to their injuries at Hospital later.

The inquiry to point out who was the driver amongst them and the cause of accident is on, Bui said. Later, death body of AAPSU, women wing, President Nguri was taken to Lobi, Itanagar, at her parent residence for last rite by AAPSU team lead by its president at around 3 pm.

Meanwhile, All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union, (AAPSU) President Takam Tatung mourned the sudden demise of its women wing president Yagum Nguri, DNGC, Students Union Spokeswoman Taba Mala, Doni Dodum and Tai Tagi and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and extended its condolence to the bereaved families.

He further said that the condolence meeting of its Women President will be held at AAPSU Office, Itanagar on July 12 morning, he appealed all the District Students’ Union, University and College Students’ Union to attend the said meeting positively.

He also appealed the Urban Development Department to renovate all the roads in the state capital to avert such incidents.

Arunachal Law Student Union, All Kurung Kumey District Students’ Union, Upper Subansiri Nyishi Students’ Union, Arunachal Students’ Union Shillong and Arunachal Pradesh Womens’ Welfare Society also extended their condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls.

CM condoles

ITANAGAR, July 10: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu expressed deep shock at today’s tragic accident that led to the death of four promising youths of the state, including the All Arunachal Pradesh Student Union (AAPSU)’s woman wing president Yagum Nguri, and three others grievously injured.

I have no words to console the bereaved family members, who have lost their dearest ones. While conveying my deepest and sincere condolences to them, I pray the almighty to give them enough strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss. Let the departed souls rest in peace.

I also pray for the speedy recovery of the three critically injured, who are admitted to RK Mission Hospital, the CM said in a condolence message.

Governor mourns Dr Pandey’s death

RGU pay homage to its Registrar

ITANAGAR, July 10: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Gen JJ Singh has expressed shock on the untimely death of Rajiv Gandhi University Registrar Dr. Deepak Pandey.

Rector of the University, Gen Singh in his condolence message said, in Dr. Pandey’s passing away, we have lost a hard working educationist and a noble soul.

Joining the RGU fraternity in praying for the eternal peace of the departed soul, the Governor added, it is not only a loss to the University fraternity, but to the whole State.

Rajiv Gandhi University fraternity held a condolence meeting at the administrative block this morning to pay homage to late Dr. Deepak Pandey, Registrar who passed away under tragic circumstances. The University places on record Dr. Pandey’s invaluable service to the University and his proactive role in streamlining the administration, stated a university communique.

His untimely death is an irreparable loss to the University in particular and higher education in Arunachal Pradesh in general, it added.

The meeting paid glowing tributes to late Dr. Pandey who was a well-known historian who had authored several books. He was widely respected as an outstanding teacher.

The gathering prayed for eternal peace to the dear departed soul and for giving strength to the members of the bereaved family in their hour of sorrow.

Rajiv Gandhi University Students’ Union (RGUSU) and Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society (APWWS) condoled the sudden demise of Late Dr. Deepak Pandey, Registrar Rajiv Gandhi University.

Late Dr Pandey was a dedicated, hardworking and outstanding teacher who contributed towards education and developmental activities of the university.

The union and the society conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul.

Biodiversity Conservation through Community

ITANAGAR, July 10: Under the technological intervention and capacity building objective of the GOI-UNDP CCF-II Project on “Biodiversity Conservation through Community Based Natural Resource Management in Arunachal Pradesh”, the G.B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development, North East Unit, Institute conducted a training workshop today on low cost appropriate technologies for capacity building of farmers. The training was imparted at Multi Disciplinary Training Centre (KVIC/APSS) at Midpu, Doimukh, in which 40 participants from about 10 villages, took hands-on-training on various low cost technologies in the field of Production Enhancement, Soil Erosion Control, Water Management, Post Harvests, Energy/Fuel Saving and Nursery development.

Arunachal Pradesh, though, boasts of rich biodiversity values; unfortunately face varied threats including degradation, deforestation, settlement expansions, logging, and hunting.

Hence, this warrants an urgent conservation attention for conserving the biodiversity of the state. Therefore, the overall aim of this project is to develop a viable, replicable and effective community based natural resource management initiative in the Tawang-West Kameng Biosphere Reserve (Proposed) and Apatani Plateau (Lower Subansiri District). This project intends to provide sustained incentives and support to the local communities to effectively protect and enhance the biodiversity, a release stated.

The major community based natural resource management initiatives initiated under this project are promotion of participation of local communities in biodiversity conservation measures and resource management, promotion of alternative livelihood schemes like ecotourism, agro forestry, and micro enterprise in the project areas to provide incentives and reduce natural resource dependency and promotion of livelihoods through technological interventions and enhancing community well being.

Nari gets water project

ITANAGAR, July 10: Minister Tako Dabi inaugurated Drinking Water Supply Headwork of Nari Village today. This would enable supply of drinking water to every household of Nari village numbering 85 houses. He was accompanied by PRI Members of Nari-Seren and Koyu Anchal Blocks along with Govt. officials of East Siang District visited Nari Village.

The people of the Nari village extended thanks to Minister for his efforts towards the cause of the people of the area. The people are appreciated and extended their thanks to C.O. Nari Katem Darang for his valuable services.

Workshop on trauma counselling

ANINI, July 10: Arunachal Pradesh Peace Co-Team has organized three days workshop on trauma counselling for school children, sponsored by the Henry Martyn Institute, Hydrabad at Circuit house, which was inaugurated by the EAC, Talom Dupak here recently.

EAC, Dupak in his inaugural speech expressed his dismay over the numbers of suicide cases found in this underdeveloped border area due to stress coupled with social obligations.

He called upon the people living with traumatic stress to accept limitations and acknowledge the hardships in life to move beyond the pain of disastrous trauma.

While sharing a word of appreciation for the NGOs, he anticipated that the trauma counselling programme would help the school children from different backgrounds in dealing with traumatic stress that today’s boys and girls are undergoing specially during the time of exams and better understanding of their lives. Speaking on the occasion, Hyderabad based Henry Martyn Institute, Poonam Lakra as Resource person and supported by the Peace Builder Akunge Miuli, dwelt about participatory method of trauma counselling for making self exploration and better understanding of self especially in times of major psychological problems such as poverty or single parenting, etc.

Suggesting ways to deal with post traumatic disorder, Lakra disclosed that traumatized children often feel helpless, vulnerable and powerless following a traumatising disaster. “It is good to tell stories where children’s actions were important and brought about good results”, she said quoting a Bible verse from John Chapter 6:1. Further she said that in order to determine, if anyone has come across trauma event, it is essential to conduct an assessment survey in the healing processes of a traumatized person.

Nanyi Borang, another resource person said, as caregivers, community workers and trauma counsellors have important part to play in the lives of traumatized people in their recovery and ability to get on back with normal life in more productive and healthy ways. (DIPRO In charge)

Upper Siang gears up for special summery revision

YINGKIONG, July 10: District Level Consultative Committee meeting regarding special Summery revision with political parties and election staffs was held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Pawan Kumar Sain today.

Sain said that the objective will be 100% achievement in EPIC and to root out bogus enrollments. Sufficient time has already been given in the earlier occasions. This time also adequate time will be given, but if somebody fails to turn up in the time of hearing, their names will be deleted from the photo E-roll. Double enrollments have to be checked for which strategy is being worked out.

Political parties should appoint Booth level Agents to help the Designated Officers. He sought co-operation from all political parties and instructed the officials to complete the formalities with sincerity and dedication.

Regarding floating labourers a uniform system of enrollment should be followed like- they must be ILP holders for atleast one year and for doubtful cases, Indian citizenship certificate should be insisted. Mismatching of EPIC cards should be strictly avoided. For age proof, documentary evidence should be emphasized.

Orin Lego, EAC(ELN) informed that all preparatory works will be done upto 14/7/09 and draft photo E-Roll will be published on 15/7/09. Period of filing claims and objections will be from 15/7/09 to 21/07/09. Disposal of claims and objections, photography of residual electors, data entry and printing of supplements with photo etc. will be done by 17/8/09 and the final publication of photo E- roll will be on 19/8/09. Teachers training towards quality education

TEZU, July 10: In its mission to enhance learning skill and capacity building towards quality education, 10 days training for 100 teachers got underway yesterday.

Inaugurating the programme, the Lohit Deputy Commissioner Kaling Tayeng said training always gives inputs on wide range of issues to develop teaching skills. The medium of instruction in schools is English and teachers in Primary and Middle School should avoid their habit of teaching all subjects in Hindi.

Teaching should be as such that it dispels fear syndrome among the students in subjects like Maths. He urged the teachers to work sincerely and contribute at their level despite constraints to derive satisfaction from their career. He also dwelt at length on corporal punishment citing various instances and bearings

Speaking on the occasion, the Principal of the IGG College S Khandu said that teachers should be well-equipped to take along thousand of young mind and teachers-taught relation is very central to teaching and social changes as well. The teachers need to come up with a commitment to enhance personality development of students to move along with the realities of society saying that the famous German proverb of “ If I rest I rust”, should be the guiding principle for a teacher.

The Tezu DDSE K. Rina in his usual friendly disposition urged the teachers to come up with a cause for the children. The Principal Govt. H.S.S.Tezu A. Tangjang also shared valuable suggestions with teachers. (DIPRO)

District level training on integrated pest management held

ZIRO, JULY 9: A district level Integrated Pest Management (IPM) training for the progressive farmers of Ziro-I, Ziro-II and Raga Blocks was held at the Conference Hall here on 3rd July'2009.

Project Director, Agriculture Technology Management Agency(ATMA)-cum- District Training Officer K.K.Gupta, while addressing the trainees said a farmer will be successful only when one understands each and every subject of the training being imparted and put them in practice. He also highlighted the objectives of ATMA and the importance of IPM in firm sector.

Suggesting the farmers to give more emphasis on organic farming, Convenor, Block Technical Team (BTT) ATMA-cum-Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Raga, B.C Mishra said residual effects of in-organic pesticides, fertilizer are ecologically hazardous as such in-organic farming should be gradually avoided.

ADO, Yachuli, Nilam Rika, while urging the farmers to be hard working and adopt modern plant protection technology for bumper harvest, highlighted the successful use of latest Agriculture technology in other north eastern States.

Having tested and tried with the organic pesticides for plant protection and incurring heavy loss, last year a farmer from Siro complained that use of organic pests alone for protection of plants from pests is not enough. He sought further clarification on better and proper management on plant protection with the organic pests.

Resource person, Duyu Tadu, ADO FTC, Ziro explained and demonstrated in detail all the available Techniques of plant protection and asked the farmers to practice them stepwise in their field to control and maintain pests population below economic inquiry level.(DIPRO)

Khandu blasts China’s move to block ADB loan

Guwahati, July 10: Arunchal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu today asserted that his state was unquestionably a part of India and blasted China for blocking a much needed Asian Development Bank (ADB) loan.

The issue had figured in the Parliament yesterday as the Rajya Sabha was informed that China had recently objected to the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) funding an irrigation project in the north-eastern state in a clear violation of the charter of the multilateral lending agency.

"It should be crystal clear for all that the people of Arunchal Pradesh are peace loving and they are with India" Khandu said.

External Affairs Minister SM Krishna had told the Upper House that Arunachal Pradesh was an ''integral part of India'' while replying to the main question on the blocking of the loan. He said India had made it clear to the ADB that China's action was a "clear violation" of the bank's charter. UNI

ITANAGAR July 10: National Students’ Union of India Arunachal Pradesh state unit reshuffled its office bearers with Honipa Sono Yangfo as president and, Kafa Bagang and Jony Natom as vice presidents.

While, Tap Tapum, Serene Nimasaw, Tami Tayek, Rita killo and Taba Chomi are the general secretaries of the State NSUI.

Vision plan for Papum Pare

ITANAGAR July 10: A meeting on five year perspective vision plan to discuss plan proposal was held under the chair of Papum pare Zilla Parishad chairperson Nabam Aka at Yupia DRDA conference hall on July 7 last.

Aka while welcoming the participants gave an explanation on the objective of the five year perspective vision plan and urged all HoDs to extend their cooperation to the PRI leaders of the district.

She further informed the participants that the five year perspective vision plan will be submitted to the Arunachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj director for approval and sanctioning of fund as per the proposal.

Dead body found

AALO, July 10: After long search, the dead body of Lt. Tajoy Tatak who went missing on June 7 this year was recovered from Brahmaputra River Assam.

Tatak had passed class-X this year from SFS, Aalo.

Two people were arrested by Aalo Police who had confessed to have chased Lt. Tatak near Pessing on June 7. But they were released on bail.

Tragedy struck when the mutilated dead body of Lt. Tatak was placed in front of DC’s office yesterday.

Two houses burnt down

ITANAGAR, July 10: Two houses were brunt down to ashes in a fire accident at Gette Village some seven Kms away from Yingkiong yesterday. One was partially damaged.

District Administrative rushed to the spot for loss assessment and the Deputy Commissioner, sanctioned Rs. 5000/- to each of the owners of the houses whose houses were completely gutted down and Rs. 1000/- to partially damaged house as emergency relief.

Lawyer’s credential in question

I would like to appeal to the authorities for immediate removal of Tagia Michi from enrollment of rolls of Advocate for deceitfully getting himself enrolled as an Advocate with forged bachelor degree (BA) and (L.L.B.) Law College Certificates.

I further appeal that penalty should be imposed upon Mr. Tagia Michi under section 45 of the Advocate Act, 1961 for illegally practicing as an advocate in Guwahati High Court, Itanagar Permanent Bench for last the 15 years using fake certificates.

Information procured through R. T. I. from Dibrugarh University, and colleges and also from Bar Council of Assam and various departments shows that Tagia Michi neither passed B.A. nor posses L.L.B Degree Certificate.

Mr. Tagia Michi has not only misused the noble profession as an advocate but also misled the Society and administration.

Mr. Tagia Michi has submitted various false & forged documents of L.L.B. Degree Certificate and false Affidavit swearing before the Bar Council of Assam for enrolling himself as an Advocate in the rolls of Advocate of the Bar Council of Assam and he is illegally practicing as an advocate since last 15 years in various courts in India without having acquired any BA & LLB Degree certificate from any recognized colleges and University.
